Where does time go? We are now on the countdown to our second visit to Belarus.
This summer we are once again visiting Borisov to refurbish a Disabled Children’s Centre. Paint and materials have already been purchased and we have divided the volunteers up into groups that will share the workload of painting, decorating, entertaining children and hopefully assisting in the work at the Baptist Church. Wonderful progress has already been seen in the building of the church. We are still funding works on the Peterhouse shelter (last year’s project) to ensure they have a watertight roof and other items we pledged to buy last year.
Pastor Sergey, Vladimir Bogan and Sergey Yvolavitch have continued to work hard to put everything together for us, but special mention must go to Oleg Voranov for his co-ordination of the project.
This year it is particularly exciting as we will be taking an ambulance for the fire service in Borisov. The ambulance will begin its journey on Friday 18th August leaving Holmeswood Coaches depot, with Mr Aspinall driving, to rendezvous with Darren and Elaine Jamieson in Warsaw. Please prayer for a quick and easy border crossing on the 21st August.
Darren and Duncan Aspinall have recently returned from a fact-finding mission so that our project will run smoothly. We thank God for their successful trip.
Our project continues to be firmly in God’s hands and we thank him for the continuing opportunities that he opens up for us.
The first group of 13 volunteers are due to fly out to Minsk (with an overnight stop in Prague) on Saturday 12th August. 8 of these volunteers will return on the Sunday 20th August. Barbara Lucas has opted to stay for two weeks and the four other volunteers from week 1 will be spending 3 days touring the Belarussian countryside with Helena – last year’s interpreter.
Darren and Elaine hope to arrive in the ambulance on Monday evening (21st August) with God’s blessing, whilst the remaining 8 volunteers arrive on Sunday 20th to return on the 27th August.
In the bible, James 1:27 says, ‘What God the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering…’

Those of us who went last year are looking forward to returning and meeting up with old friends and making new ones.
Our aim for the trip is to demonstrate the love of God to all we meet and to show the very real love that Christ has for each and every one of us.
As we draw closer to our mission we would be very grateful for your prayers now and throughout our visit.
Phil Marshall and Ian Redding will be providing a day to day diary of our activities on the church website.
